“No! But you do not honour the orphan, and you do not encourage one another to feed the poor. And you consume inheritance, devouring (it) together”
The idea of spending from what Allah has provided is actually the idea of us transferring funds from our dunia account into our akhirah account. It’s still my account, it’s just in a different bank, not the bank of America, it’s not Citibank, it’s the bank of Allah. That’s the bank and it is far more than insured. Right way it’ll give your returns and then someone on top, you know. So, it’s actually an act that and this is by the way just can only happen if you believe in the unseen.
You can only spend for the sake of Allah, spend and give the Sadaqah to help somebody out and nothing about what you have left in the bank. Two things need to be clear:
Number 1: when you give money, it doesn’t decrease.
That’s the promise of the prophet saw. Money does not go down when you get sadaqah and when you give charity. In other words when you’re going to give, Allah swt place with you better. You want a promotion give sadaqah. You’re not getting enough savings, give sadaqah. Allah swt will open more doors for you. That’s the promise of Allah. That’s one part of the belief. The other part of the belief is actually even deeper
And that is that when we are giving. You’re not giving to an orphan, you’re not giving to people flood victims or earthquake victims, you are not giving to a Masjeed, you’re actually giving to Allah. He doesn’t say, spend on what? He says they spend, but actually realised that the spending that we do. From Aishah r.a., every time she give a sadaqah, she used to give and to put perfume on it, and that’s why, because she’s sending it to Allah. Every time you give a charity, it’s actually an act of giving to Allah.
Number 2: human nature from childhood onwards.
When we are given things that are not ours, very quickly we forget that they’re not ours. We start a assuming imagining you forget that part that was given to us. We start imagining that is belongs to ourselves. That it actually doesn’t belong to someone else, and you want to hold on to it. When someone wants to take it from mine, we said, “mine, mine, mine”. What is Allah swt do? From what we provided them, we’re the ones who give you forget that. You forgot that it’s not yours. The money in the bank isn’t mine. The car and driving is not mine. That it’s actually the belonging of Allah we are ourselves belong to Allah. From whatever little Allah has given me, i will come forward.
This is why Allah say in Quran, “come forward light or heavy doesn’t know never underestimate what you have to give”
